To activate this, you need to turn on MIDI Change in M+, which lets you control scenes, sections or locks using notes or program changes. For a nice step by step description search "MIDI change" in the manual (it's section 13.1). I mapped the notes manually in a custom Launchpad template to make it match the colors and arrangement of scenes on M+, so that it would be easy to use and remember.
