"First Stitches - Corliss 1870, Introduction to English Paper Piecing Tutorial"

This tutorial will take you through the steps to construct an English Paper Pieced Hexagon Flower using my favorite materials and methods. If this is your first time trying English Paper Piecing be kind to yourself. The tutorial is designed to make you a success. There are two sets in the kits so you can practice and see your progress from the first flower to the second. All kit fabrics are a "grab bag" of 19th century reproductions and rarely repeat. This technique is a gateway to a whole range of fun and beautiful hand-piecing!!! In this tutorial you will learn two stitches: Basting Stitch Ladder Stitch The steps include: 1 - Cut the fabric 2 - Pre-fold the fabric (This step gives you a level of precision just like Mary 1840 did with her first stitches stitching.) 3 - Baste the fabric 4 - Join the hexagons 5 - Press the flower 6 - Remove the papers After viewing the steps, you will be able to construct a hexagon flower using the kit provided on my website or by using supplies you have on hand at home. Go to www.susanstandleystitchintime.com to purchase a kit. The kit includes: *Papers and pre – cut fabrics to make two Hexagon flowers (fabrics are a “grab bag” And do not repeat.
