What happens? We hold on to it. We try to let it go. It won't go. Hi, I'm David Ellzey, Licensed Instructor of the Sedona Method globally, and also CEO of Consciousness Coaching. And what I'm about to share with you is a how-to of the Sedona Method process, which is the process of letting go, or a doorway to understanding a deeper sense of your unlimitedness, your unlimited being. The Sedona Method generally has four ways of letting go, so this happens. (Drops stick) But if it doesn't happen, there's a Fifth Way, which is a powerful addition to the process, which is ultimately grounded in an old inquiry from ancient times. But still useful today and valuable because today is no different than then. We still have emotions that rise and thoughts that rise and fall. So the Fifth Way orientation of the Sedona Method—instead of the four ways of letting go—is based on not looking towards the object of which you're trying to let go, but rather, turning your attention in the other direction to the spaciousness, the emptiness, the unlimitedNESS in which this is occurring. And so the process of the questions are very specific. Let me give you an example of them. (Loud bird singing) So the birds are beautiful right now, huh? Sometimes that'll help you release a little bit. Just beauty. So take a moment right now and consider something that is holding your attention. That won't let you rest in a more peaceful way. Now, the question I'm about to ask you has to do with allowing or welcoming - as opposed to letting go. And welcoming may be too much for you regarding this feeling that you have. So the best thing...there are some options. Can you acknowledge or allow or recognize - any of these will work. *** So whatever you're thinking about right now, the topic itself; relationship, money, health, your spiritual journey, your quest. Can you welcome or allow for the feelings that that stirs up? And the thoughts, the story line, the memories, the physical sensations all related to that topic? In this moment, can you allow whatever's here to be here? *** And can you also welcome or allow any wanting that's associated with that? Wanting it to be different. Wanting your spiritual journey to speed up. Wishing things were different than where they are. Can you welcome that wanting? *** And can you also welcome or allow how you hold this issue close to you? You defend why you feel a certain way. You want to protect a position. You want to explain or justify. Can you allow that to be here, too? *** And now can you also welcome or allow your aversion to this? Your wishing it wasn't here? Your wanting to be done with it or free. Can you welcome that, too? *** Now can you notice how it feels like this story or this issue contributes to a sense of you or who you are? It's like an identity that we hold. We put name tags on and say, “This is who I am, and I'm this problem.” *** And now, can you also be open to the possibility that this is not the totality of who you are? So would you be open to the possibility of knowing who you are beyond this? Good. *** Now, would you also be open to the possibility that what you are and who you are is that which is aware of this issue? But is not the issue. You are that that is aware. The spaciousness in which the awareness, the consciousness...the words are irrelevant here, but it's pointing to that which is not limited by this issue. *** And so for a moment, just this moment in time—not recreating or reconstructing the past, even three minutes ago—would you be open to allowing yourself to rest as "this" in which this and all issues rise and fall? Appear and disappear. (On the screen it says: “The Fifth Way helps us lovingly allow for our emotions, thoughts and experiences, without being bound by them.”) Good. And if that doesn't seem to be unlocking your sense of freedom or your expansive sense of being, sometimes the Fifth Way orientation can be powerful to remember who you are beyond any issue. Beyond any object of memory, any story. So I hope this was useful, and I look forward to the next time we connect or we speak. Until then, peace.
