Eel-Tailed Catfish (genus Tandanus) are only found in Australia. They are also known as Tandans, a name which originates from an Indigenous name for the fish. Eel-Tailed Catfish have venomous dorsal spines and so should be handled only with extreme care and protective equipment. They inhabit slow-moving water and feed on worms, crustaceans and insects. Breeding occurs in spring or midsummer, before which they build a nest of small stones and gravel. One or both parents guard the eggs until hatching. I'm not sure whether the catfish in the video is Tandanus tandanus or Tandanus tropicanus, they are very similar. If they were caught locally, they would be Tandanus tropicanus, or if they were sourced from other regions they would be Tandanus tandanus. Either way, they are one of my favourite local fish, I love how goofy their faces look. The other fish in the tank are Eastern Rainbowfish and a smaller eeltailed catfish species, possibly Black Catfish (Neosilurus ater), but I am not confident on that identification.
