Theme: EARTH 2.0 – IS THE WORLD GETTING BETTER OR WORSE? For this year, the selected theme is ‘Earth 2.0: is the world getting better or worse?’. We live in an imperfect world. Poverty, disease, lack of education, environmental destruction – the problems are all too obvious. Can we do anything about it? Emerging global technologies have a serious impact on society as it is today. We want to position two sides of the coin by imposing a battle: optimistic (e.g., 'heading for a golden future!') versus pessimistic (e.g., 'the world is going to die!'). Therefore during the PhD & PDEng day, we want to present the participants with the different opportunities for making the world a better place and to equip them towards achieving their desired position.
