2022 First Person with Holocaust Survivor Rose-Helene Spreiregen

Watch to learn how Rose-Helene Spreiregen’s maturity and determination saved her grandmother’s life, and her own. In 1943, at the age of 12, Rose-Helene and her grandmother used false papers to flee Paris on an overnight train to the south, where they hoped they would be safer. Rose-Helene acted as the adult, telling her grandmother to feign sleep while she faced the German and French police checkpoints alone. She later recalled, “I don’t think I was ever more scared.” Hear Holocaust survivor Rose-Helene Spreiregen’s experiences in her own words recorded on July 20, 2022. First Person is a monthly hour-long discussion featuring a live interview between journalist Bill Benson and a survivor and including questions from the audience, available on the Museum’s YouTube channel.
