LIVE: Sudan Army Launches Biggest Offensive In Months To Retake Khartoum | Firstpost Africa The Sudan army has launched its biggest offensive in months in Khartoum, to regain control of areas lost to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Smoke engulfed the skies of Khartoum as the army launched artillery and airstrikes in the capital. At least four people have been reportedly killed and at least 14 wounded. The paramilitary RSF has occupied nearly all of the Sudanese capital since the civil war erupted in April last year. The Sudanese army offensive in Khartoum came just ahead of an address by its commander General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. As per the World Health Organization, at least 20,000 people have been killed in the Sudan civil war. More than 10 million people have been uprooted from their homes.
