2019 Nissan Maxima SR - POV Drive Review + Walkaround

The Maxima's super aggressive and sexy facelift for 2019 looks amazing in the flesh and on the road. We get a nose as macho and mean as its arch-rival the Charger and also ditch the awkward LEDs from last year at the same time. The tail gets new LEDs as well and all SR models have the blacked-out trim and details that looked so hot on the previous Midnight Edition (review on this channel!). Unfortunately, as hot as the looks are... there were no mechanical changes to the Maxima SR for 2019. So we still have a CVT that is hopelessly awful and actively discourages drivers from using full throttle. The torque steer is unpredictable and unpleasant. And on the handling loop we also discovered huge brake fade -- likely from the Acitve Trace Control and overall ECU trying to manage torque flows via braking each front wheel selectively. It all adds up to a Maxima that looks hot, has great cabin... but is a nightmare for true performance enthusiasts.
