Located in Washington D.C, The Stew is home to local artist Rose Jaffe. 11 months out of the year, she uses the space in multifaceted ways from staging public arts projects to teaching printmaking classes and hosting art markets. When she vacates the space for one month each summer, it is important to continue to water the vibrant local art scene. Most recently, this looks like a 1-month residency for fellow artists to expand and deepen their practice in a dedicated workspace. Logan McDowell and Vanessa Villarreal are the two artists featured for the first Summer at The Stew. “The Stew” is more than an art studio. It is a DIY flex space that hosts markets, pop-up exhibitions, art builds, and more. It is the concept of local artist Rose Jaffe, started in 2017 out of a desire to connect, collaborate and build community by providing accessible art space.
