Here's the latest song I've written - this one from a prompt to write something inspired by one, or all, of the four elements. I'm now five months, two workshops and two masterclasses into songwriting. Still early days with GarageBand, but reckon the quality fo this isn't too bad for a spare bedroom recording. I've almost managed to drown out the sound of the motorbikes on Grantown Road...almost! (Had some top tips from the wonderful recording workshop attended a couple of weeks ago, held by Jenny Sturgeon and Lucy Farrell.) I now also have Logic Pro envy... She Loved the Sky Wind, he was out a wandering When he chanced on a maiden so fair Dressed in a gown cut from sunlight Jewelled drops of rain through her hair He knew he would never love another He sighed out a breath, soft and sweet “Come with me now my fair maiden, I’ll lay the world at your feet” The maid she refused his entreaty Begged him to pass her on by Her heart it belonged to another She was in love with the Sky She loved the Sky He had dressed her in gold and bedecked her with jewels Wind, he did whistle around her Determined her heart he would woo “Ask, love, and it shall be given I’d move heaven and earth just for you” He called to the clouds to obey him They blotted the Sky from her sight Light it turned quickly to darkness As Wind blew the day into night Yet still, the maid she refused him Wind’s face, it twisted in rage His might for a storm he did muster War with the Sky he would wage For she loved the Sky But her love cost her dear caught up in the crossfire She loved the Sky For this she did pay When the storm was exhausted Dead did she lay If ever you hear the Wind’s howling When windowpanes rattle and shake You’ll know that he calls still for this maiden The one he will never forsake He wanders this earth, always searching For a way to undo his great wrong He moans, his whistles, his howling Words to his saddest love song He’ll not rest until he’s revived her He’ll not accept that she has gone When Sky cries tears for his dead love Wind howls his saddest love song She loved the Sky But her love cost her dear caught up in the crossfire She loved the Sky For this she did pay And never will the Wind rest To this day Timelapse cloud video by Beachfront @ www.videvo.net.
