Corpus Christi Procession (1914-1918)

Corpus Christi Procession - we did not ask for a truce. Location of events unknown - somewhere in England. Corpus Christi Procession; on a rainy day in 1918. Catholic ceremony. Altar boy swinging incense. Tapestry icons; very elaborate designs; held up on poles above marchers. Very young British World War One soldiers. Then a lovely shot of children walking; dressed in white. A girl a few years older holds one of these poles with the pictures on it; it also has four streamers coming down which are held by smaller children; this pattern is repeated in the procession. 'Blessed Are They Who Mourn' says the next standard; then 'For they shall be Comforted'. Line of men; not priests; carry statue. Little girls with white veils over their heads walk alongside. A whole lot of little girls in white dresses; carrying more signs. 'By Thine Agony and Passion Jesu Deliver Us'; etc. CU group of young boys in uniforms; with woodwind instruments. Then some very small girls. More priests. Women in a variety of coats & hats; some with umbrellas; walk along. Religion; holidays. G 483 B. FILM ID:1896.11 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
