DOWNLOAD/STREAM: http://barong.family/kayzobw Kayzo has been putting records out on various labels for a few years (including Dim Mak and his own Doghouse Recordings), but after a collaboration with Cesqeaux (‘Home’) is now fully welcomed into Barong Family with his new Black & White EP, which is all about contrasts. Like any artist, Kayzo got tagged with some kind of genre label while doing his thing. Let’s not bother with that though, not when it comes to this guy. ‘It was cool,’ he offers, ‘but it hardly addressed what I was as an artist. I wanted to give my audience a group of records that embodied all the blended styles that I enjoy and am creatively inspired by.’ You can find those records on Kayzo’s Barong Family debut. The notion that anything goes, becomes abundantly clear right off the bat, when a devastating heavy metal riff worms its way into opening track ‘Kill it’, without tripping over Kayzo’s fast-paced drums. Singer Dylan Matthew features on the subsequent two tracks, adding an anthemic rock flavor to ‘Avalanche’. Dylan’s emotional vocal performance takes ‘Horizon’ into another dimension. The dynamics on these four tracks are off the chain, with melodic sections and monstrous drops and breaks clamoring for attention. Kayzo detonates the rave on the last track, a collaboration with Spanish producer Junkie Kid titled ‘More Than Ever’. There are no gray areas here.
