The Mahindra Scorpio is excellent value - but the GWM Tank 300 might be even better. These two are close when it comes to price, with just $5000 AUD separating them in the spec levels tested here -- we have the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8L (known as Scorpio in Australia) and the GWM Tank 300 Ultra. These are both 4x4 off-road capable SUVs with lots of serious hardware to help you get down and dirty on the trails. But they go about things in very different ways, with the Mahindra offering a simpler offroad capability, and the GWM hosting heaps of technology and gear to make you get the most out of it. In this review I've compared the value for money (VFM), the warranty and interior finishes, but mainly focused on how each of these two vehicles drive -- both on-road, and off-road with some serious four-wheel driving (4WD) in the Australian Outback.
