Today, we’re taking you on a culinary journey to Italy with a twist on a classic dish: Crispy Rice Balls with Melting Mozzarella and Rich Tomato Sauce. These golden, crispy balls with gooey cheese inside are perfect for impressing friends or enjoying as a snack. Let’s get cooking! Ingredients: 2 cups cooked rice (leftover white rice works great) 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 egg 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular) Small cubes of mozzarella (for filling) Oil for frying For the Tomato Sauce: 2 cups crushed tomatoes (or store-bought tomato sauce) 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon olive oil Salt and pepper to taste Fresh basil leaves for garnish Instructions: Prepare the Rice Balls: In a bowl, mix the cooked rice with Parmesan cheese and the egg until well combined. Take a small amount of the mixture and form it into a ball. Press a small cube of mozzarella into the center and cover it with rice to seal the ball. Coat and Fry: Roll each rice ball in breadcrumbs to coat it fully. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the rice balls until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. Make the Sauce: In a small pan, heat olive oil and sauté the garlic until fragrant. Add the crushed tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens. Add fresh basil leaves for garnish. Serve: Plate the crispy rice balls over a bed of warm tomato sauce. Enjoy them while the mozzarella is still melting inside!
