Our pick? Seiko SARB033 $ 350 : It sits comfortably and universally at 38mm. The quality is high, design is beautiful, it features an in-house movement, and it has heritage (paying respect to classic King Seiko). Stowa Marine Classic $ 1000 : It's 40mm - It has which build be casual. But it also has the sophistication of a sweater or suit partner. The Stowa brand goes back the late 1930s. Other considerations: Alpina, the watch brand, has been getting a lot of attention recently. They've got great heritage, dating back to 19th century pocket watches. Today they're owned by Frederique Constant, which is owned by Citizen, which is one of the reasons they're getting so much attention. The watches, although accompanied by wonderful history, don't quite make the cut for the price - they're too casual, too sporty, or too expensive for quartz. Junghans, particularly in collaboration with Max Bill, a Swiss architect and designer, is a 100% layup. Just under 1k, it's got history, classic design, but it falls a little too strongly on the dress spectrum, in a way that couldn't pair with a polo and jeans.
