How and Why I Did It - Interview with Pat Hawkins of County Classics Motor Museum Taunton

Putting together your own Motor Museum is a dream of many car and bike enthusiasts, but Pat Hawkins has managed to realise that dream after many challenges of the last few years. After suffering a period of severe illness in 2018, Pat had a refreshed outlook on life, and decided to do something to help out his home town of Taunton. Using as a base a recently closed traditional department store, he set about converting it into a motor museum. After being hit very quickly by the pandemic, structural challenges and further personal illness, he has recently seen his museum opened by none other than TV star Richard Hammond. It features a mix of Pat's own vehicle collection and a number loaned by various other enthusiasts, with the intention the exhibits will be rotated on a regular basis to keep the experience fresh for returning visitors. A short while after the museum opened we managed to grab the ever active Pat for a chat about how the museum came about and his plans for the future.
