Exhausted after 8 days at sea, we're ready to drop the hook, and luckily we know just the place.... 100s of miles from anywhere, in the middle of the south Pacific ocean there is a submerged atoll, and in that atoll there is a gorgeous lagoon, and in that lagoon there is a white sandy bank that (in the right weather conditions) is the perfect anchorage for tired sea farers looking for respite after a storm. The water is shallow and the holding is good, but there is nothing there...no stores, no houses, no land, no people...nothing but blue for as far as the eye can see. The reef offers little protection from weather or big swell, but those brave enough to venture there are rewarded with unbelievably clear water - arguably the clearest in the world! - and coral teeming with wild life that have little fear humans...which, it turns out, is great for fishing, but not so good when it comes to sharks....
