Waking up on our final morning in Khwai we awoke to African Wild Dogs across the river from our camp at Magotho. The previous night we had leopard and hyena come through our camp, but today we say goodbye to Louis and Klara, the Dutch couple we rescued from the river a couple days before. Our journey today takes up into the Chobe National Park for an Overlanding Adventure! We 4x4 through the thick sand of the Savute and make our way to our camp at Savuti, but not without Roelf picking up a puncture on his Landcruiser 79. The two Hilux’s arrive unscathed and we rest up around the campfire and get ready for a day of game driving the next morning. Our first self drive safari day out had us learning the lie of the land, finding the awesome Baobab Gallery where I shared some of my thoughts on the BushTech Canopies Tray system. We then head into the Savuti Channel to explore for Rock Paintings, where we found a baby elephant and his mother along the way. We hiked up to find the bushman paintings with an incredible view over the Savuti Marsh. We returned to camp for a nice lunch before heading out later for another game drive, this one was packed with sighting from wildebeest to majestic mating lions, elephant and black backed jackals, this is what Savuti is all about! The next day we would explore the Cheetah plains, the Quarry Hill 4x4 track and visit our lion friends again! Thank you to our sponsors!
