How Britain Criminalised the Poor | British History

The New Poor Law of 1834 drastically changed the lives of poor people in Britain for over a hundred years, influenced greatly by Utilitarianism and Malthusian beliefs. In this video, we look briefly at the history of the poor in England and Wales, and the impact that the workhouses had on their lives. At times in this video I say Britain, partly due to habit and partly because I'm lazy and it's easier than saying England and Wales.
