How to teach your horse to stay calm in any situation | Groundwork Program by Stefan Forsman

As flight animals, horses' instinct is to run away from danger. Their sensitivity and ability to identify danger is what keeps them alive in the wild. Now, imagine being able to take your horse anywhere regardless of the situation: a forest, a busy beach or a crowded town in the middle of a festival. Horses need to feel safe and as horse people it is our job to make them feel that they can trust us to lead them in any situation safely. But we cannot assume they will follow us blindly, they are smarter than that. We need to work with them to earn their trust. The horse in this video is a 9 years old gelding who is now undergoing our groundwork program. This is his third lesson and the result is already impressive. In his first lesson he was just galloping frenetically in a circle and paid no attention to me at all. Look at him now how he stands still for over 10 min surrounded by people doing crazy things around him.
