Wangchuck was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2018 for his contributions to the environment and education. He is also the founder of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), an organization focused on education reform. His innovative and sustainable solutions have made a significant impact on the environment and community in Ladakh.
