What started with humble beginnings on a cold weekend of 23-24 February 2001 in Lansing, Illinois has turned into one of the premier metal events for the best progressive and power metal acts in the business. Onward was one of the pioneering acts that weekend which featured US-native stalwart Symphony X and two other hot bands at the time, Jag Panzer and Evergrey. Eventually, ProgPower USA would be an annual festival and showcase a slew of the best in the world, such as: Kamelot, Edguy, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Angra, Nightwish, Savatage, Stratovarius, Therion, Epica, Thunderstone, Leatherwolf, Sonata Arctica, After Forever, Primal Fear, Iron Savior, Iced Earth, Amorphis, Rob Rock, Helloween, Fates Warning, Hammerfall, Accept, Sanctuary, and Labyrinth. A Southern California act by the Destiny's End also was on the bill for the first ProgPower USA, and the creative force behind it later teamed up with Onward vocalist Michael Grant to form Crescent Shield. But, before the mighty 'Shield could ever exist, Onward was "evermoving onward" on a legendary path with Michael Grant's signature baritone and existentialist lyrics perfectly paired with the unique brand of melodic thrash-shred stylings of Toby Knapp. In this video you will see 35 minutes of legendary metal: 1.
