AURI Food Evaluation and Sensory Laboratory Open House

The state-of-the-art laboratory is housed in IL and will be a key asset for SMSU’s Culinology and Hospitality Management programs. The lab is equipped with nine isolated sensory booths, a prep room and conference room for focus group sessions. “We are excited to debut our new Food Product Evaluation and Sensory Laboratory. Bringing this idea to reality took the collaboration of the Minnesota legislature, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Southwest Minnesota State University, and AURI,” said Shannon Schlecht, AURI’s Executive Director. “This service was something our clients were asking for and we are pleased to be able to provide the capabilities. Optimizing taste, feel and smell is essential to successful food product development. This lab will help many businesses. I also look forward to watching the next generation of food scientists at SMSU use the lab and technology for continued innovation and economic development.”
