The heliacal rising of fixed stars is an important moment in the Sun's apparent yearly journey around the Earth where a star makes its first appearance in the hours before dawn after having been covered up by the Sun's great light for several days or weeks. Heliacal rise dates have been used in astrology and in cultural calendars to mark important dates and signify the commencement of various activities or celebrations. Unfortunately, determining the time of these heliacal rises is somewhat tricky as they vary from location to location.
