This airport is the most important link between Albania and the rest of the world. [5] Tirana lies at coordinates 41.33° north and 19.82° east. Geography Tirana is 110 meters above sea level. The average height of the Tirana field is 521 m, while the two highest mountains that lie are Dajti Mountain with 1612 m and Mountain with Pits with 1828 m. The city is located about 34 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea to the west. From the south and west it is surrounded by relatively low hills, while on the northwestern side Tirana lies over a flat area. In the northern suburbs, the Tirana River passes. A few kilometres away from the south side flows the Erzen River. Prior to the administrative reform of 2014, the area of the city of Tirana was about 31 km², while the area of the entire district was 1288 km² and included four centres: Tirana, Vora, Krraba and Kamza as well as 150 villages. After the administrative reform, tirana municipality expanded to 1,110.03 km² while districts as an administrative unit were merged. Tirana is also part of the tirana district that has an area of 1,652 km² and includes five municipalities: Tirana, Kamza, Vora, Kavaja and Rrogozhina. The centre of Tirana is crossed by the River Lana, which at the estuary joins the Ive River.
