The former heartland of East London’s industrial history is a fitting backdrop to this fourth floor space. Sunlight Square was once a prominent East End institution, producing its famous Sunlight laundry soap, but there’s little evidence remaining of its industrial heritage; it’s now a well established, gated and landscaped scheme comprising modern apartments and converted warehouse spaces. This two bedroom, top floor apartment falls in to the latter camp and beautifully merges that factory feel with big Crittall style windows, warm wooden flooring and a generous ceiling height across nearly 900 square feet. It’s one of those spaces that lends itself perfectly to the term ‘City fringe living’. Both bedrooms are doubles but nothing says hip East End lifestyle more than a large, open plan living space which, obviously, this has. Sunlight Square was something of a pioneering development in its early days, when there really wasn’t much going on at this end of Bethnal Green. The scene has changed somewhat since. There’s no shortage of social establishments to tempt you. Coffee, food and alcohol (in moderation of course) are in plentiful supply. In fact, head round the corner (literally) and The Fugitive Motel delivers all three. If you’re after an authentic Italian experience then Quarantacinque on Roman Road is a just a few minutes’ walk away. Head West and the night life gets a touch more lively. Shoreditch, Hoxton and Spitalfields really don’t need much of an introduction. The list of places to occupy you is almost too long, all day and night and at weekends. Green open spaces your thing? Well, the vast expanse of Victoria Park is close by too, a leisurely fifteen minute walk away. Moving around London from here is also something of a pleasure. Weather permitting, you can walk into the heart of the City in about 40 minutes but if you prefer the tube, Bethnal Green (Central Line) not only delivers you to Liverpool Street, a few more stops and you’re in the heart of the West End.
