The R730xd has two LGA2011-3 sockets, which means that the R730xd accepts Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 series processors. Please note, that in order to use the v4 processors, you must have an updated BIOS. In general, it is best practice to keep everything on your system up to date, which you can learn how in our Mass Updates video. Below are some of the CPUs that we recommend for the R730xd. This list is not a complete list of supported processors, but it consists of a few great processors within the E5-2600v3 and v4 series.
