TARANTULA HAWK WASP STING GONE RIGHT!!!

On our recent trip to south Texas, we encountered this beautiful species! Rivaling the mighty cicada killer wasp in size, Pepsis thisbe is a large spider wasp native to the southern United States. These animals are powerful and are able to subdue and kill tarantulas with ease! These spiders have a scary public image when in reality, they are super docile and beautiful creatures. The tarantula hawk has adapted perfectly to hunting tarantulas; with a fang resistant exoskeleton and quick reflexes, it's relatively impervious to defensive attacks. Although being one of the more painfully stinging insects in Texas, in my opinion, it's nowhere near the top ten on the planet. After around 2-3 days, all effects of the sting subsided. While the initial sting did hurt, around 5 minutes after the sting was the most painful. Very interesting!
