Hi Everyone, Welcome back to my YouTube channel and to the start of another new project. Around 10 years ago, I done this compressor up, mechanically, but I also enhanced the look and the quality of the entire unit by powder coating all its components. At the same time, I made a simple mechanical device to tumble the vessel with an abrasive media that I had made up then, to clean the inside face of the tank, to remove and prevent corrosion from reoccurring in the future (which worked). Note: the only video/tumbling process of a vessel on this platform worldwide! Around 4 years ago, on my YouTube channel (very near the start of my channel), I put together a small video of that process using old, outdated video clips that I had stored on an old Samsung phone. A year ago, I decided it’s time to upgrade, as the compressor has done a lot of work over the last 10 years. Honestly, it has been abused because of the large volumes of air I pull from the vessel on different occasions. For example, when using my sand blaster, the pumps couldn’t keep up, they couldn’t hack the pace. Therefore, I decided to do build something different, unique, making it an interesting project yet again. I have decided to increase the volume of air that is pumped into the vessel by adding two new industrial grade high flow rate two stage pumps. Other components will need upgraded too, for the pumps to fill the large 270ltr vessel in the desired time. For example, the non-return valves/check valve need to be replaced to a higher flow rate. The tandem compressor currently weighs 215kg. It has two single phase 2.2kw motors and two 14CFM pumps attached to it giving it a large air displacement for a piston compressor at 28CFM. The biggest of its kind in single phase. When am finished with it, it will have two new 4kw motors and two new 25CFM 2 stage pumps, giving it a much larger air displacement at 50CFM+. Note: it will be much heavier at approx. 300kg. These additional motors are required as the old motors are underrated and have no chance of driving these new pumps. So, you can’t buy a tandem single-phase compressor that I seek, or that you will see here, but you could purchase a very expensive screw compressor. In this video part 1 I start this project by stripping all its components off and lowering it to the ground using a crane. I also go through all the stages of tumbling (washing the existing wax and adding special media I made up) the vessel again, but this time I do a complete walkthrough of the process from the tumbler to the mounting of the vessel, where I will proceed to the beast/bulky upgrade in part 2 as it makes a cool project. The results of the tumbling process will follow in a new part 2 video soon on my channel soon. Also, the mounting of the pumps, the plumbing, the wiring and the manufacturing of the compressor’s belt/pulley guards will also follow then too if I can get it all fitted in.
