We eventually turned in the firearm to the state police in Lansing, only to witness a drunken kayaker nearly drowning, leading to a dramatic rescue and arrest. A near-crash due to a faulty brake system and a pothole forced us to drive cautiously back to Indiana, cutting our trip short. After a bout of illness and ongoing car repairs, I’ve had time to reflect on the dangers we faced. This journey has profoundly impacted my life, making me view magnet fishing more cautiously.
