Jonathan and Angela Scott, and Jackson Ole Looseyia return to Animal Planet in all-new series on the magnificent big cats of the Masai Mara. The series follows the lives of individual cat characters, drawing the viewer into a very personal journey. Produced by Untitled Film Works and directed by Abraham Joffe ACS Jonathan Scott has spent over 40 years in the Mara and has an unrivalled knowledge of its big cats. Angela as a world-class wildlife photographer, has a very special bond with the lions, particularly the famous Marsh Pride. Jackson, as a proud Masai local, has spent his entire life alongside these special animals. THE CHARACTERS What makes this series so special is that the viewer is introduced to individual big cat characters. Charm the lioness, Bahati the leopard, Malika the cheetah, just to name a few. It is only through the immense experience of Jonathan, Angela and Jackson that the intimate lives of these animals can be brought to the screen in such detail. In fact it was Jonathan gave the Marsh Pride their now world-famous name when he first began documenting them in the late 1970’s. THE MASAI MARA Masai Mara National Reserve is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. Home to over 60 mammal species and over 500 birds, the Mara is considered the wildlife jewel of Kenya. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra transform the landscape and provide a land of plenty for the resident predators. BIG CAT TALES features some animals who have been documented for decades and it is only through the long history and experience of Jonathan, Angie and Jackson that the intimate lives of these big cats can be brought back to Animal Planet audiences in such spectacular and intimate detail. The series was filmed in the Masai Mara in 2017 and features the latest innovative production techniques, including rich 4K resolution. Exceptional storytelling in stunning detail reveal the sheer splendor of these fierce felines in the wild, including never-before-captured sequences and multiple storylines and scenes of nurturing, hunting, survival and territorial battles, with each big cat family struggling to overcome the many challenges of life on the African savannah.
