Stronghold HD - Military Campaign [very hard] - Speedrun (

Hi everyone, welcome to my first official Stronghold speedrun of the military campaign on very hard! Well, actually, its 21 speedruns, since I am going for the individual levels, the whole run is once again segmented and thus not valid... The general idea for defensive missions is simple: start the mission as fast as possible, build a big army and kill the last wave directly at the signpost. You have 2 seconds at the beginning to place your keep and granary, if you are too slow, then the start gets delayed by 2 seconds over and over until both buildings are placed... For someone like me, that is actually not that easy, especially when you want to place them at a certain tile! For the big army, I set myself the extra goal of reaching an army of 200 men, which got surprisingly hard on short missions like 7 or 9! And as if that was not enough, I also played those missions without glitches! Teleporting would have been ok to use if you only care about the time, but you should avoid double manning because pausing does cost real time (about 300ms for each doubling)! To max out your army, you should try to keep your popularity above 95 and you also want to reach a population of 100 and higher to get the increased population growth, because new peasants are normally the bottle neck when it comes to recruiting! So I usually boost my economy in the first 2 years, defend with minimal armies by sniping the signpost during that time and then start recruiting as soon as I hit 100+ population. Defending those starting waves is not time crucial, like in mission 11 where I actually had to build a wall to defend myself properly from the first few waves! For the final wave though, you want to have all your men waiting at the signpost to slaughter everyone as fast as possible. You usually have 2 months to finish the final wave, after 1 month, you get the enemy message and after another month, the victory screen appears. There is no immediate win once you kill the last enemy, so its enough to kill everyone within 1.5 months and then skip the message to not lose any time. There are a few exceptions though: in missions 7 and 8, you can get the victory screen after only 1 month and avoid the enemy message, so you have to try and defeat the final wave super quickly, which I barely managed in mission 8 and which was not possible for me in mission 7! That mission was so short and the attacking army was so large that I even struggled to win within 2 months there! Other exceptions are mission 9, where you can take your time because it takes 3 months for the victory screen to appear, as well as missions 14 and 16 where there is about a 1 year / 6 months delay respectively, which is usually very annoying, but helped to finish mission 14 in a minimalistic way and mission 16 with no time loss compared to the easy objectives. Switching to minimalistic builds in the second half was necessary because my game started to run a tiny bit slower once the attacking armies got larger... The effect was even bigger on my newer Windows 10 PC, where I would lose 3 seconds on a 10 minute mission (!), so I had to switch to my older Windows 7 PC to get a steady game speed! While I played all defensive missions kind of fair, I used everything I know on the offensive missions to save any second possible! I used the known glitches as well as a few new ones to finish even the more difficult missions in about a minute, so I hope I can make your jaws drop a few times ^^ Over all, I am happy that I finally managed to motivate myself to record this run, some missions have been sleeping on my hard drive for years waiting to be uploaded! My goal was to stay below a total time of 2h20m which I achieved by a huge margin, and without the extra time needed in missions 10 and 12, you could theoretically reach an easy difficulty time of 2h15m (!!!) but I leave that to you ;-) Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the run! :-) Mission times: 0:00:04 Mission 1 ( 0m 21s) 0:00:32 Mission 2 ( 0m 16s) 0:00:52 Mission 3 ( 0m 27s) 0:01:24 Mission 4 (11m 36s) 0:13:05 Mission 5 (10m 52s) 0:24:14 Mission 6 (11m 36s) (excluding intro) 0:35:55 Mission 7 ( 8m 49s) 0:44:48 Mission 8 (10m 16s) 0:55:09 Mission 9 ( 7m 12s) 1:02:25 Mission 10 ( 2m 26s) 1:04:56 Mission 11 (16m 45s) 1:21:46 Mission 12 ( 1m 35s) 1:23:26 Mission 13 ( 1m 01s) 1:24:32 Mission 14 (13m 57s) 1:38:34 Mission 15 ( 1m 19s) 1:39:57 Mission 16 ( 0m 44s) 1:40:45 Mission 17 (17m 38s) 1:58:28 Mission 18 ( 1m 19s) 1:59:54 Mission 19 ( 8m 31s) 2:08:29 Mission 20 ( 8m 14s) 2:16:48 Mission 21 ( 1m 28s)
