Makita Petrol Brush Cutter EBH252U Full unboxing and test

On an earlier video that you may have seen I showed the engine on my old Homelite Brush Cutter ST-385 had decided to go and meet its maker. Enter the new boy on the block, the Makita EBH252U. Normally I wouldn't have bought this unit as it had a £400 price tag at the time of making this video. However Amazon had one for sale for around £241, a considerable saving although they said is was a used, customer return unit. This is an Amazon Warehouse deal. I took the chance and as you can see from the video it was in fact a brand new unit. Mike was very pleased! Keep a look out for this type deal on Amazon as I have also been able to get a Rode Wireless Go mic system considerably cheaper a few months ago though the "Warehouse". Back to the Makita, everything you need tool wise is included. Just add fuel! After a quick read of the manual a few bits were fitted to the Makita and I was soon cutting in the garden. Overall the Makita in my option is terrific, certainly if you compare it to the Homelite. It's so much quieter in operation and the vibration to the hands is reduced. This is largely due to the fact it is a four stroke engine and because of this you can run it on unleaded fuel without the need to add oil/fuel mix like you do on the 2 stroke engines. Do read the manual as you are instructed when the oil level (for the engine) needs to be checked/topped up or replaced. I do believe spares will be available for a lot longer than cheaper brands (or indeed unbranded units!) so hopefully I will have many years of untroubled service ahead of me.
