After Philip Roth, I had to go for a change of pace. A BIG change of pace. One that was on the extreme opposite to Roth. So let's try The Darling Buds of May by H. E. Winton. What a surprising, "perfick", little twee book to read that is basically plotless and that makes you hungry for roast pork, ice cream and chips as well as cocktails and beer. Some of the passages in this book make you have this picture in your minds eye about this laidback Larkin family and how some of the scenes may have been considered racy (but in a twee way) for its time published in 1958. Have you read this series? What were your thoughts? My life lesson is....be like the Larkin family.
