Some older machines on the Makita range have a tab that stops newer LXT batteries fitting. Removing the little tab is both quick and easy. This Milwaukee M18 18v 5ah battery won't charge or power a tool and is showing only 13v on the multimeter. So I took it apart and found one bank of cells to be defective I replaced the offending cells and still it wouldn't work even though the voltage was within the chargeable range I ended up replacing the pcb board with a knock off one from ebay this got the battery working and charging again.
