The album includes twelve tracks, 2 of which are originals and is a tribute to Habaka K.F.J. to all his ancestors and ancestors, in particular to his father Melvin Jackson, saxophonist of the king of the blues B.B. King for more than twenty years, to his mother Mary Ann Foster a jazz singer, to his paternal grandfather Jerry Jackson a pianist and one of the first black theater owners and promoters in Memphis. All personalities that allowed her to breathe the music that has now become his reason for living, a legacy that Habaka celebrates with his great expressive skills and claimed, right down to the title, as a legacy that must be perpetuated for future generations. "Habaka" is Kay Foster Jackson's stage name. Kay was born in Memphis, Tennesee (U.S.A.) into a family of musicians: her mother Mary Ann Jackson is a jazz singer, her father Melvin Jackson is the saxophonist of the blues king B.B. King for more than twenty years. Learned to sing from an early age, Kay was part of numerous gospel groups becoming, still very young, she appreciated director of the Church of God in Christ choir. The many musical collaborations and her ability to range between jazz and soul, blues and r&b, have made her a complete singer with great interpretative skills that allow her to draw on the roots of the deep black-American tradition where singing becomes the main instrument to summon the spirit. You have been collaborating with Francesco "Shakeblues" Mazilli since 2001 participating in numerous concerts and in the recording of the last two CDs of the band. The Summertime version featured on the Even Italians get the Blues CD has been called one of the 10 most beautiful versions ever recorded. Habaka & Shakeblues was born continuing the experience of the Bella Blues Band - historic band active since 1980 with hundreds of concerts in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom - after the great loss of the leader Adriano Vettore with the change of the name made indispensable by the irreplaceability of the founder. Led by bassist Francesco "Shakeblues" Mazilli, a great experience in the musical field both as an instrumentalist, author and organizer of concerts, founder of the legendary Sonny Boy, the band makes use of the vitality of young and competent musicians such as guitarist Fabio Betto, Donato Cuzzato on the Hammond organ and piano, the saxophonist Sergio Caregnato and the drummer Loris Veronesi.
