Welcome to another update from Elixir's voyage! This week, it's a real mile stone in our voyage around the world. We take our small sailing boat through the Panama Canal. After waving goodbye to the Atlantic, and spending 24h in the canal, we pop out in the Pacific to begin the next leg of the voyage. It's a long and tiring 24 hours, but as well as being an incredible experience, it's a lot of fun and also very educational. COSTS: All in all, the Panama Canal transit cost around $2,5000 USD. This includes the transit Fee, the agents fee (optional, but definitely recommended), the Shelter Bay Marina fees, and the rental costs of the lines and fenders. It's possible to make the transit without an agent, but I wouldn't recommend it as it's only possible to pay with cash, and to do so you have to find an ATM in the somewhat dangerous city of Colon.
