Posting to relate to bigger cyclists - don't get discouraged, do what you can. I am working up to consider including a view of me in these videos, along with potentially capturing my weigh-in. I paired my Favero Assioma Duos instead of the Kickr v6 for my power source and cadence - due to ongoing issues with the Kickr accuracy. I suffered a strange anomaly while supertucked in this race - an random error came up stating that I can't change what I'm paired to during an event, even though I did absolutely nothing. I assume this is some sort of bug related to being paired to both the kickr for resistance, while being paired to a different power source. It quickly went away when I pedaled, but it resulted in me temporarily losing the wheel of the other rider. Routes like these aren't going to be favorites for heavier riders, can only generate so much power - the laws of physics still apply. I will never be below 180 pounds - I'd look sickly if I was. I have a bigger frame, broad shoulders and back. That being said, I could realistically lose up to 15-20 pounds or so, and that would make a pretty big difference. I don't think I'd be winning races like this, but I might be able to stay in the group longer. My advice is to set goals before races like this. In this case, my goal was to maintain an average power of at least 330 on The Grade KOM. I averaged 331. Goal achieved. The group was dropping me within the first 30 seconds - but I didn't let it get me too frazzled, I had my goal, so I stayed focused on it. Race and Route Recon: Well...it is The Grade, and this is pretty much everything on this route. As far as what to expect - drafting isn't going to do anything. Heavier riders, here's where I move away from aero - I choose a solid all rounder setup. I like the new 2024 Canyon Aeroroad or 2024 Pinarello Dogma F - paired with ENVE SES 7.8, or the DT Swiss ARC 62s. Per Zwiftinsider, expect it to take 12-24 minutes for mortals - the pros can do it under 10. This effort was 15:43 for me. After the grade, it's mostly downhill.
