Welcome to The Ghosts of the English Civil War. (Some images are for illustration only) Today, we are going on a journey to look at a number of ghost stories connected with the English Civil War. This was one of the most brutal and terrifying times in the UK’s history. Who haunts the battlefield of Edgehill in Warwickshire? Who haunts Wilderhope manor? Why do young lovers haunt Goodrich Castle? And why is a man with one hand haunting Claydon House? The Civil War, it seems, left a number of ghosts in its aftermath; we have murders, lovers, battles, betrayal and even ghosts of horses! Some of the properties and locations have ghosts that are older and more modern, (including a famous 20th Century lady) than the Civil War, but I’ve included them too! The more the merrier! Some of the stories focus on historic events and I hope you feel that my video covers the sad side of history in a respectful and honest way, without the need for sensationalising the past.
