From a recently rediscovered cassette copy of a lost private recording, offered as found, the only known recording of Maurice Duruflé performing this work . . . I went to this recital as a little boy, one of the first organ recitals I ever heard. It made the impression of a lifetime on me. I am happy to be able to share this recording with those who love the music of Franck and Duruflé. Attempts have been made to improve the quality of sound, here suffering from some flutter. It appears however that the flutter concerns the amplitude, not frequency, and so is unfixable with current sound-editing software. I thought it better to simply offer here what has survived the improbable series of events leading to this video, as is. If there is anyone who can resolve the flutter problem, have at it, and let me know how it turns out. — Michael Ferguson
