Mount Machapuchare: The Sacred Unclimbed Fishtail Mountain of the Himalayas #machapuchare #himalayas #unclimbed Machapuchare, sometimes spelled Machhapuchchhre or Machhapuchhre, is a mountain in Nepal's Gandaki Province that is part of the Annapurna massif. Its name means "fishtail" in Nepali. Since getting a permit from the Nepali government is impossible, its highest peak has never been officially climbed. Seen from Pokhara, Mount Machapuchare is a sacred mountain that has never been officially climbed. There has been one allowed attempt to climb the sacred mountain by King Mahendra in the 1950s. The British team cam within 500 feet of the summit before turning around. It is also reported that an illegal solo climb was attempted by a New Zealand climber, Bill Denz, making a successful yet illegal attempt to the summit in the early 1980s. Mt Machhapuchhre is a beautiful mountain that can be seen from Pokhara, and Fewa lake. Not only is the mountain impressive and dangerous with its steep slopes, it is supposedly the home to Lord Shiva as well. With Mt Machapuchare being a sacred and religious place for Hindus, the untouched and unclimbed mountain may never be summited. This video gives the history and importance of Machapuchare or Fishtail mountain. Check out the full blog here: https://haydenrue.com/nepal/mount-mac...
