How the P-51 Mustang Dominated WW2 Skies

North American P-51 Mustang was such an incredible fighter ever made. The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is an American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II and the Korean War, among other conflicts. The Mustang was designed to use the Allison V-1710 engine, which had limited high-altitude performance in its earlier variants. A Rolls-Royce test pilot, Ronald Harker, was among the first to conclude that what the Mustang needed to realize its full potential was the Merlin engine. The P-51 was one of the first fighters to use a laminar-flow airfoil, which became standard on most later high-performance fighters. This wing design and a low drag airframe resulted in very high speeds. About 13,300 Merlin-powered Mustangs were produced in the United States. Though production contracts were canceled at war’s end, the P-51 remained in service with the Air Force for several years thereafter. 📌 SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL HERE ➡️ https://bit.ly/3xyp8S5 ============== ⏰ Timestamps 00:00 Intro 00:33 A Rocky Beginning 04:38 First Flights 06:10 Crucial Bomber Support 10:13 Distinguished Service 14:07 After the War ============== ============ We know that sometimes we make mistakes, and you let us know about them by leaving a comment.
