The PhD Application Process*

This webinar will describe the preparation required for students to be competitive applicants to a PhD programs and the application process. Participants will learn how PhD programs prepare students to become experts in a particular area of science and to pursue careers in many different areas of biomedical research. Speakers will discuss the major components (personal statement, letter of recommendation, etc.) and the timeline for a successful PhD application. The panel of biomedical graduate program deans will address necessary undergraduate preparation and share practical strategies. The PhD Outreach Committee of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) have organized this webinar in collaboration with NRMN. Panelists do not discuss individual programs, but discuss common features of these programs. The workshop includes time for Q&A. Upon completion of the webinar, students and mentors will have a working knowledge of how students can enhance their undergraduate preparation. They will also understand the application process and the various elements of competitive applications for graduate programs leading to the biomedical PhD. Drs.
