I was the same. What you need is a Leica viewfinder magnifier M 1.4x. Total gamer changer!! It makes any Leica M camera viewfinder as good as Leica M3 (*With the exception of the Leica M10). You can now nail your focus wide open on a Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4 ASPH, Noctilux or longer lenses such as 75mm, 90mm or 135mm. The Leica view finder magnifier gives an equivalent 50mm frameline view and magnifies both the rangefinder patch and the frame lines in the viewfinder.
