Virginia is back, but she might be regretting this one because there were TONS of spots to hit! Luckily, 99% of it all is in the beautiful town of Bloomington, IN (home to Indiana University). Breaking Away tells the story of four friends trying to find their way in life while surrounded by those that already have. It stars Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley, Paul Dooley, Barbara Barrie, Robyn Douglass, Hart Bochner, P.J. Soles, Amy Wright, & John Ashton. It was directed by Peter Yates (Krull, Bullitt) and written by Steve Tesich (The World According to Garp) who attended Indiana University and raced in the Little 500 It's one of the best underdog stories out there and it was a staple on HBO back in the day. It was constantly on in the background at my house growing up. We were really excited to finally be able to hit these spots as we'd been planning it for a while. Going during The Little 500 and successfully getting out to the quarry made it that much more memorable. I tried to organize the locations into clusters. Dave's Neighborhood, Downtown, the Cinzano Race, IU's Campus, and the rest were scattered.
