#bengalclassicalmusicfestival ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Two of the world's most accomplished tabla players attended a music conference in Dhaka to play teentaal in tabla using ideas from many different gharanas. ---------------------------------------------------------- Live recorded at Bengal Classical Music Festival on 27 Nov 2016, at Army Stadium, Dhaka- -Pandit Yogesh Samsi (tabla) -Pandit Subhankar Banerjee (tabla) -Ajay Joglekar (harmonium) ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Pandit Yogesh Samsi as a unique tabla artist who has simultaneously scaled unprecedented heights of achievement in solo performance, accompaniment and pedagogy. Son of esteemed singers Dinkar Kaikini and Shashikala Kaikini, he began playing at age six under Pandit Taranath Rao, a guru renowned for his knowledge of rare and ancient talas. At age ten he commenced a 23-year discipleship under the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha, building a distinctive command of the Punjab gharana. As an accompanist, Yogesh has provided sensitive and thoughtful tabla accompaniment for many leading vocalists and instrumentalists. He has accompanied the top grade instrumentalists and vocalists and dancers of India. Pandit Subhankar Banerjee is a virtuoso classical tabla player who is one of the favorite accompanists of many great musicians and dancers. His mother Kajalrekha was a singer-composer, who started him on tabla aged four and supported his musical journey. He trained in the Benares gharana under Pandit Manik Das before an extended apprenticeship in the Farukhabad gharana under Professor Swapan Siva. He received awards in his early age from celebrities like Satyajit Ray (1977), Pt Ravi Shankar (1985) and from President of India in 1987. His expansive rhythmic imagination has led to a range of top accompaniment slots, as well as performances with the London Symphony Orchestra and jazz masters such as John McLaughlin. He has also played for Hollywood films, and performed at the Nobel peace Prize ceremony.
