Surfing The Wave in Bristol England!

It was my first surf at an artificial wave, and though I'm still waiting on Kelly's invitation, I'm glad it was at The Wave in Bristol. Having been surfing for 35+ years, the advent of wave pools just blows my mind! I couldn't wait to get out. My first session was Expert Turns (rights) and second was Advanced Rights. I caught 10-12 waves in each session, which lasts a little less than an hour. 2 sessions were far more than I needed in a single day, and I now know that I could be happy living away from the ocean if I could hit a wave pool like this 2-3 times per week. The waves have some size and the power is fairly consistent. I tended to try and get a turn off immediately, and it was a little mush at the very beginning. So, I ended up blowing it on a few each session. If I had the patience, I would have held up another few seconds and put more energy into my bottom turn once it picked up more. My favorite part was about 1/2 way through the wave where it sped up a bit. I was able to get a few good turns, floaters, and 2 in/out barrels in the section! I left the surf park with all my teeth intact, enjoyed a great meal with friends, and will be back!
