How to replace a ducted vacuum system - Aussie Vac Melbourne Sydney Australia

This step by step guide shows you how to replace your older ducted vacuum power unit with a modern AussieVac system. Hi, Andrew from Aussie Vac here. Today, we're going to take a look at replacing your old ducted vacuum system with a new generation Aussie Vac power unit. The first thing to do is disconnect the power, remove the lid, and take out the old bag The next step is to remove the low-voltage wiring, which in this case is held to the unit by two Phillips-head screws. The next step is to disconnect the power unit from the pipework. The last fitting should be taped, as you can see here, which needs to be removed. In some instances this fitting may be glued, in which case you will need to cut to release the pipework. Once you've released, move the pipe gently back and forth until it comes apart and the unit is disconnected. Now we're ready to bring this unit off the wall and get it onto the ground. Given that the unit we're changing over today is very similar to the new model, we're going to save some of these parts to reuse in our job. We'll take this part out, and we'll also take out this side. We have our new vacuum unit here. As you can see, it's quite similar to the previous unit. We're going to refit the pipework we took off the old unit, because we know it'll match straight up. Now we're ready to put this one back on the wall. The next step is to hang the unit back on the wall and reconnect the pipework. The next step is to join the low-voltage wires from your new power unit to the existing low-voltage wires from your house. Simply twist the wires together and use a terminal block or insulation tape to secure. All we need to do to finish is put in our bag, put on the lid, and connect the power. Job done. I hope that gives you a good understanding about what's involved with changing over your ducted vacuum system to a new unit. We've got increased power, a five-year warranty, and a quieter motor. If you'd like to put of these in yourself, you can visit our website, give us a call, or drop into the showroom in Melbourne where we can arrange to have one installed for you.
