Original Bhajan written by James Krishna Lal on the occasion of 145th anniversary of the arrival of the first Girmitiyas in Fiji. This Bhajan was composed on Saturday 11th May, while James was officiating at the Girmit Open 2024 Golf Tournament that was held in Suva, Fiji. The inspiration came from the large number of people who turned up to participate in the Girmit Open Golf Tournament this year. "I did my research and wrote the words as they came to me. I was most pleased with the outcome. To see so many people of so many races, men and women, young and old, coming together to mark the Girmit Day event, gave me one lesson: That we Girmitiyas ourselves need to take pride in our history and heritage. This composition is my small token of appreciation of all Girmitiyas, and to all people of Fiji and the world who have honoured us and valued us.
