2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV at the Dragstrip: WTF? WTF!

We’ve finally gotten some seat time behind the wheel of the electric monstrosity that is the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV — and we have, to a last member, come away loving the unlikely beast. It’s just outrageous from start to finish: the power output numbers, the weight, the styling, the inefficiency, the incredible abilities, the removable roof, four-wheel CrabWalk steering, the list goes on and on. It’s GM’s electric technological flagship, and it has everything the company could throw into it as a demonstrator. But thanks to that mission, it’s also blisteringly quick. GMC says it’ll do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, so we absolutely had to see if it could — but in controlled conditions, for safety and repeatability’s sake. That’s why Cars.com Detroit Bureau Chief Aaron Bragman and a team of testers rented out Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, Wisc., to throw the big electric SUV down the quarter-mile and measure the results. Can it achieve what GM says it can do, right off the street? How does Watts to Freedom mode make it happen? Watch as we see exactly what WTF mode does to the 4-ton SUV — and we brought the receipts to prove it. Research and compare the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV: https://www.cars.com/research/gmc-hum...
